ZK-BCC de
Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n DHNZ46)
Surprisingly, this was a New Zealand built Tiger, made
from a Cowley built fuselage and
locally
supplied planes and tail. Although declared surplus in 1947 it
remained in storage
and was
only civilly registered in 1953, having been issued to the Hawkes Bay
and East
Coast
Aero Club and stored by them for several years. It crashed at
Porangahau when it
hit
an obstruction at the end of the airstrip while landing on 3 Sept 1960.
The aircraft was
not
repaired and the registration was cancelled in November of 1960.
