de Havilland D.H.89A Dragon Rapide
(c/n 6654)
Dragon Rapides were
not common in either Australia or New Zealand. This example
was operated by the Auckland Aero Club in the 1950s and was named "City
of Auckland".
It was previously
Dominie HG655 with the RAF and NZ526 with the RNZAF. It later
went to Southern Scenic Air Services
and was written off in an accident at Milford on
20 April
1964. The above shot is from Jim Dyson (via David
Molesworth) whilst the
lower one was taken at roughly the same
time (with different filter).
