ZK-ALD de
Havilland D.H.94 Moth Minor
(c/n 94046)
These 'razor-back' conversions of Moth Minors
were fairly common in New Zealand (and
quite well done they were, too). Note Pilot Officer Prune
(for those us with WW II memories)
about to board the craft. This
was the pre-war ZK-AHL owned by Airwork (NZ) Ltd, and
impressed into the RNZAF as NZ595 in 1942. It returned to Airwork
in 1946 as ZK-ALD.
(They
were probably responsible for the cabin modification).
After a couple of private owners
it went to the
Otaki Aero Club in 1960. After a period of inactivity it was
restored to the register
in 1977 with a
c/n of 94046R. Although no longer currently registered, it is
believed to be a
candidate for restoration.
