ZK-AKT  de Havilland D.H.89B Dragon Rapide            (c/n  6673)

                              

                                       Formerly the RAF's HG674.  Delivered to New Zealand in October 1943 as NZ530.
                                       Sold to Union Airways in 1946 and named "Tareke", a name it retained after it was
                                       absorbed by NZNAC.  Seen above in original livery and below (in a scratchy old
                                       print) in the revised markings adopted by New Zealand National Airways in the early-
                                       to-mid 1950s. It was sold to West Coast Airways in 1956.   It force landed and was
                                       written off in an accident at Shotover River near Queenstown Airport after a double
                                       engine failure had occured on 15 April 1967.
