VH-USI  British Klemm BK.1 Eagle I      (c/n  25)

Ex G-ACTR, this Eagle was acquired by Joe Laurie, of Rawdon Vale (near Gloucestor) NSW in
December 1934.  Color was blue and silver     Brand new, the aircraft had only first been demon-
strated in England four months prior.     In 1936 it was acquired by Miss May Bradford who flew
it in the December 1936 Centenary Air Race from Brisbane to Adelaide.  The two Frank Walters'
photos above and below show it at Mascot prior to, and after painting its race number.   In my own
shot at the foot of the page I assume that that is Miss May giving a cheery wave.        In January of
1937  the aircraft crashed and burned at Mascot.   Sadly May Bradford and her two female passen-
                                       gers were killed.  .
