D.H.50A
(c/n [QANTAS] 6)

Taken from a snapshot in the
Qantas archives, this image illustrates one of seven D.H.50
Model As and Js built under
licence by the airline at Longreach. -UJS served from 1929
until August 1937 when it
was sold to F.T. O'dea in New Guinea. It returned to the main-
land later that year, however, and was registered to
W.O. Weaber of Brisbane. Shortly
after that (on 2 December 1937) it
suffered a devastating crash at Yeppoon, Qld. Below
is an extract from the
Brisbane Courier Mail for 4 December 1937 showing the activity at
the scene of the crash.
