G-AUHI  de Havilland D.H.50J                        (c/n  QANTAS 5)

Registered to Qantas in May of 1928, this D.H.50J was named 'Hermes'.  Seen above in this
image from the John Oxley Library, State Library of Queensland collection, are the then
Governor of Queensland Sir John Goodwin (on wing in rear) and Lady Goodwin deplaning at
Longreach sometime in 1928.  Shortly after this, on 4 September 1928, and fortunately while
these worthies were not aboard, G-AUHI crashed at Golden Grove, South Australia  and was
                                   consumed by the resultant fire.
