G-AUED  de Havilland D.H.9C                                             (c/n  86)

                          

                                This rare shot of G-AUED comes from the Dave Freeman collection, via the South Australian
                                Aviation Museum.        The D.H.9C was one of Qantas' first aircraft and was registered to the
                                Longreach company in November1923.      It met its demise in a crash at Tambo, Queensland
                                on 24 March 1927 and this accident marked the embryonic airline's first fatality.       The image
                                below from the John Oxley Library, State Library of Queensland collection, shows the hump-
                                back configuration of this civilianized, three-pax WW I type.
