VH-UPS  Beagle A61 Terrier 2                                      (c/n  B.618)

This was the former G-ASCG which had a number of owners before being purchased by William
                                           G. Wright of Glasgow, Scotland in April 1968.  He moved to Adelaide the following year and the
Terrier was re-registered to him as VH-UPS on 8 May 1969.      Four days later ownership was
transferred to the Royal Australian Navy Gliding Association at Nowra naval base in NSW as a
glider tug.    It was written off on 4 March 1974 when it struck power lines and crashed during
take off near Trundle, NSW with a glider in tow.  Both pilots were seriously injured.      The nice
shot above, from the Geoff Goodall collection, was taken by Norm Weeding at Camden, NSW
                                           in 1972.
