VH-TOR Auster J/5G Cirrus
Autocar
(c/n 2928)

Built as G-AJYY in 1948 and exported to Australia in 1955 as VH-DYY,
this Autocar became
VH-TOR in 1962. It is
seen above at Bankstown in July 1966 in this photo by Bob Neate (via

photo). It was just finishing up being reconditioned
as a J/5G Cirrus Autocar by
Austerserve Ltd (the Auster
dealership division of KSAS) from its original J/5B status. It
was
restored to the register in
September 1966 in Austerserve's name and promptly
sold. Greg Ban-
field took a nice color
shot of it (below) at Rylston, NSW on 21 April
1968. Withdrawn from
use in 1978, the reamins of VH-TOR
have now been acquired (Nov 2015) by John Morrissey
who plans on restoring it at his
base in Temora, NSW.
