VH-SHB  Dornier Do27A-4                           (c/n   488)

                                     

                                           This Do 27 was operated by the Catholic Mission of the Holy Ghost at Wewak, where this shot,
                                           by Al Bovelt (via Geoff Goodall) was taken in January 1967.  It was registered, new, on 23 March
                                           1965.    On 30 June 1967 it crashed into heavily timbered mountains when the engine failed during
                                           take-off from Sassoya Mission.  The Italian-born pilot, Father Larry Zampese, who had flown with
                                           the Royal New Zealand Air Force during WW2, and his two passengers were killed.
