VH-RVA (3)  Piper PA-22-150 Tri-Pacer                        (c/n  22-6342)

This Tri-Pacer was acquired to replace the first VH-RVP which crashed in the Dandenong Ranges
in 1958, soon after it had been delivered.   This replacement was originally also registered VH-RVP
but in those days DCA decreed that no aircraft of the same type could carry the same rego if the
previous one had been involved in a fatal accident, and so this one was quickly re-registered -RVA.
-RVP was then given to a new Cessna 172.   The Tri-Pacer went to the Ballarat Aero Club in 1962
and was re-registered into their WE series (for local Lake Wendourie) as VH-WEL.  The above
shot is from the Bob McCutcheon collection and was taken at Moorabbin.
