VH-IAT  Piper PA-20 Pacer                                          (c/n 20-75)

Not nearly as many Pacers were built (1,120) as Tri-Pacers (almost 9,500) and hence as a
breed, they are comparatively rare.  Only a handful found their way to Australia.  This early
production 1950 model was in full factory livery (including the minuscule rego painted on the
rudder aft of the fin cheat line) when Bob Neate took this shot in 1965.   The aircraft had been
imported from Canada in March 1962 where it had been registered CF-HAT, although it left
the Piper Lock Haven, Pa plant as N6970K.   VH-IAT is still current and is registered to an
                                    owner in the Melbourne area.
