VH-GVA(1)    Avro 652A Anson 1                          (c/n  unknown)

Goulburn Valley Air Services was a small, Victorian intra-state carrier founded in 1954 with a
modest fleet of Ansons.   Soon after its foundation it changed its name to Southern Airlines as
the lower shot, of the same machine, illustrates.  Both photographs were taken at Essendon in the
1954/55 era.    VH-GVA was formerly the RAAF AW680.  It was sold off by Southern in 1958
(when they upgraded to Doves and Herons) and was re-registered VH-BUY.  It was withdrawn
                                  from use in 1962.
