VH-FNE  Fokker F-27 Friendship 200                                 (c/n  10145)

                                    

                                        Originally ordered by the independent Queensland Airlines.  By the time this Friendship was delivered
                                        the company had come under the Ansett-ANA umbrella.  It staged through Melbourne on delivery in
                                        early March 1960 where Barry Maclean took the above shot.     By September of 1964 when Roger
                                        McDonald took the photograph below at Eagle Farm, Brisbane, it had gained an extended nose to house
                                        its newly fitted weather radar    In 1966 -FNE joined the Airlines of N.S.W.division of Ansett fleet, and
                                        by 1969 was again repainted; this time in Ansett Airlines of Australia livery.      Shortly after this it was
                                        leased to M.M.A. for a short while in the winter of 1970 before returning to Ansett-ANA.    VH-FNE
                                        was destroyed in a hangar fire at Essendon on 25 March 1971.  (Arson was suspected at the time).
