VH-FAD
(2) Piper
PA-23-150 Apache
(c/n 23-470)
Two two nice images
(above and below) of
this 46 year old Apache by George Canciani, both
taken in Melbourne, albeit several years apart. The upper
one, at Essendon, was in November
of
2003, while the lower shot, showing a "new"
paint job, was at Moorabbin in August of 2006.
I,
personally, am not crazy about regos painted in type script, and
frankly I liked the top livery
better. Better still would
have been an original Piper style
livery of the period. Incidentally, it
would appear that this Apache has
reverted to its original configuration, and the Aztec type nose
applied
by Doug Fawcett in the
1960s when it was registered VH-IAK has been
dispensed with.
At the foot of
the page is a much earlier rendition of this machine by Greg Banfield,
taken at
Bowral, NSW in
April 1979.
