VH-ERL Mooney M.20C Mark 21
(c/n 2983)

Although photographed as its original N5589Q by
Greg Banfield at Mascot on 5 April 1965 (below),
it wasn't until
Greg caught up with this Mark 21 at Schofields, NSW in March of 1981
that he was
able to capture
it as VH-ERL (above) now bereft of its original Mooney livery.
It is still current and
still in
NSW. Quite recently (2010) I received the shot of -ERL at
the foot of the page showing a
19-yr old young
Doug Cornwall in front of the aircraft (his first retractable gear) at
Bankstown in July
1966.
Doug went on to become a TAA/Australian Airlines captain and then flew
for Thai Inter-
national
(after the dispute!).
