VH-CVT  Cessna 172C Skyhawk                                 (c/n  49418)

                                   
                                  
                                        This Skyhawk, first registered in Australia in September 1962 (ex N1818Y) wore an attractive
                                        Cessna factory paint scheme when Greg Banfield took the above shot at Bankstown in March
                                        1963.  It is still current, albeit now in a somewhat unimaginative paint job.   The contemporary
                                        image below was taken by  Ian McDonnell at Warnervale Airport, Newcastle, in August 2009.
                                        Warnervale is, I understand, currently under some sort of threat from land developers.    Turns
                                        out the real estate that it occupies is worth a lot more as a housing estate than it is as an airport.
                                        This is a common trait everywhere these days, unfortunately.
