VH-EBL  Douglas DC-4-1009                (c/n  43067)

                                   

                                        VH-EBL was delivered new to Trans Australia Airlines in 1946 as VH-TAC.  It was transferred
                                        to British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines in 1948 becoming VH-BPA.  Qantas acquired it the following
                                        year.  Since, at that time, these were all corporations owned, or at least governed, by the Commonwealth
                                        of Australia, these transactions were probably accomplished by a bunch of journal entries, rather than any
                                        actual cash transactions.   It was sold off to Ansett-ANA in 1961 becoming the second VH-INY.
                                        Then to a couple of diamond mine operations in South Africa as ZS-IGB to transport miners to and from
                                        the Union to the mines of South West Africa,    It was finally broken up at Eros Airport, Windhoek, in
                                        1979.
