VH-BSE  de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth   (c/n  815)

                           

                                   VH-BSE was also an ex-DCA aircraft (VH-CAF) , operated by Tasmanian Aero Club.
                                   The above photo, taken in 1953, was before the club's tail stripes had been applied. It
                                   later went to the Aero Club of Southern Tasmania at Cambridge Airport, Hobart.  Seen
                                   below is an image by Norm Weeding taken in 1960 (c/o the Geoff Goodall collection)
                                   showing the aircraft after it went to Hobart, but still wearing the Tassie Aero Club stripes.
                                   Finally, it went to the Hobart Aero Club and crashed near Cambridge Airport  in 1962.
                                   The photograph on the foot of the page (also from the Geoff Goodall collection) shows
                                   it dismantled in the hangar at Cambridge following the accident.  The Tiger was sold as
                                   a rebuild project to local aviator Vern Reid and new a new rego VH-DVR was allocated
                                   (but never taken up).   It was completed and painted as VH-DVR but a new CofA had
                                   not yet been applied for when it was destroyed by a bush fire on Vern Reid's farm airstrip
                                   at Rokeby, near Hobart in February 1967.  The fire also destroyed his airworthy Tiger
                                   VH-AIF.
