VH-BBZ  (2)  Piper PA-30-160 Twin Comanche                  (c/n  30-60)

                           

                               The photos above and immediately below are by Greg Banfield, whilst the one at the foot of the page
                               is by Danny Tanner.   Above, the Twin Comanche is seen at Williamtown, NSW in September 1964
                               and below, in December 1963 in the hangar at Bankstown just after its arrival from the US and still
                               wearing its previous registration of N7096Y.        In the event, it did not actually appear on the VH-
                               register until April of 1964.     In Danny's shot at the foot of the page it had acquired wing-tip tanks.
                               Photos of aircraft thus equipped are difficult to 'get right' since the tanks get in the way   . Danny did a
                               good job on this one.  The photo was taken at remote Wee Waa, a small town in the New England
                               region of NSW.      Like my other mate, Geoff Goodall, Danny sure did get around a lot!   VH-BBZ
                               is still current and registered to a private owner in Forbes, NSW.
