VH-BBU de Havilland
D.H.82A Tiger Moth

There were two Tiger Moths registered VH-BBU.
This is the first one and is seen here at Archerfield,
circa 1948 in this
nice shot from the Geoff Goodall collection. It was
the former A17-90 and had
been
civilianized in August of 1947 for a Mr. R. W. Dean of the Bulimba
Hotel, Bulimba Qld. It was
sold in March 1950 to
Kingsford Smith Aviation Service at Bankstown who were acting as agents
to
find a number of Tigers for
onward sale to aerial agricultural operators in NZ. It was
shipped ex
Sydney on 28 June 1950 on
the SS Garvelpark and became ZK-AVS with Rural Aviation Ltd at
New Plymouth.
