VH-BAZ (1) Avro 652A Anson 1

These two shots from the Gus
Grulke collection (via Geoff Goodall) show VH-BAZ circa 1947
probably at Archerfield (above)
and (below) derelict at Maryborough circa 1951. This Anson
was owned by Richard Carr of
Townsville, Queensland who was a car salesman and prospector.
Carr also had a Ryan STM and a
Wackett. He flew the Anson to inspect the mineral
deposit
finds from his Fortuna Mining
Syndicate of Hidden Valley via Townsville, and planned an Aust-
ralia-New Guinea air freight
service. The Anson's CofA expired in April 1949 and it was
flown
to Maryborough, Qld for a renewal
inspection. This was never carried out and the aircraft was
abandoned there.
