                                         This shot of the first VH-BAW was taken at Essendon in 1948 and is from the Neil Follett
                                         collection.   Originally A3-147 it was civilianized in December 1947 and looks pristine in
                                         the above photo.  It crashed at Donnybrook, Victoria on 11 December 1949 and was
                                         written off.
