VH-AMY de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth
(c/n 83116)
This was the second VH-AMY
and was formerly VH-BLZ. The first was also a Tiger, a DHA
built one (DHA211. ex A17-210),
which was written on in a crash at Pearce, WA in 1955. The
above Hatfield
built machine also served its time with the RAAF although retained its
RAF serial
of R5257. Geoff Goodall's shot was taken on
owner Les Kordys' farm at Trayning, WA in
December 1969. That's Les in the cockpit taxying out for a flight
from his farm airstrip. The
flat wheatlands beyond are just as featureless as those in
Alberta! VH-AMY was previously yet
another ag Tiger in the large fleet of Bob Couper Co at Cunderdin WA
before conversion back
to two cockpit configuration for
resale. Les held on to this old bird until the spring of 2006 when
it was sold to
an owner in NSW, where it is currently registered.
