VH-AIJ  (2)   de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth      (c/n 82796)

                           

                                  This Hatfield-built Tiger was one of those which retained its RAF serial (R4879) during its RAAF
                                  service in  the WW II.   It was civilianized in November 1952. The photo above, from the Geoff
                                  Goodall collection, shows it on the owner's farm at Whorouly South, Victoria in May 1967   In
                                  1954 one time it took place in the Redex Around Australia Trial.  The shot immediately below,
                                  by Jim Dyson (via David Molesworth) was taken at Bankstown at the start of the Rally.   Note
                                  advertising for Longines timepieces.      At the foot of the page is a Geoff Goodall image of -AIJ
                                  taken at the 1984 Mangalore Air Show with the lower port wing being used for the owner's camp-
                                  site tent!         This Tiger is still on the current Australian civil register, registered in the Melbourne
                                  area.
