VH-AIG  (2)   Douglas C-47A                            (c/n  9594)

                                 

                                          In 1971 the Australian Government, under Prime Minister William McMahon embarked upon a
                                          program of furnishing aid to S.E. Asian countries (mainly Cambodia), whether they wanted it or
                                          not.   This ex-RAAF C-47A (A65-24/VHCTM) was part of that program.  I will not list it as a
                                          DC-3 since it was never really a civil aircraft, the markings VH-AIG being more or less a delivery
                                          call sign allocation while the machine was being flown out to become part of the Cambodian Air
                                          Force.  Its final disposition in unclear.
