VH-ADT  Lockheed  14H2 Super Electra   (c/n  1409)

                       
                   
                                              
                             This aircraft was built in 1938 for Northwest Airlines as NC17382.  It was sold to Continental
                             Airlines in 1939.   In 1941 it, along with (VH-ADS) was acquired by W.R. Carpenter for their
                             New Guinea service. The photo above, via the Barry Maclean collection, shows it in Carpenter
                             livery in the early days of WW II.     Later during WW II it flew military charters, and, as were
                             all aircraft in Australia during those days, camouflaged but with civil registration.   The image at
                             the foot of the page, from the William T. Larkins collection shows, -ADT circa 1943. in war time
                             camouflage. When Carpenters sold their Sydney-Rabaul route to Qantas in 1944, the aircraft
                             underwent a change of ownership.  It is seen immediately below with QEA titling.  For a complete
