VH-AAE Auster
J/1B Aiglet (c/n 2680)

From
the Phil Vabre collection comes this nice shot of VH-AAE
at the Antique Aeroplane
Association of Australia (AAAA) Fly-in
at Narrandera in 2006. The aircraft had flown all
the way from Mackay to attend. VH-AAE was originally
imported in 1951. The two shots
from the
Geoff Goodall collection below shot it (upper) at Jandakot in 1972,
still bearing its
original KSAS/Auster-style livery and
(lower) at Narrogin, WA in 1974 when it was used as
a glider tug (note tail hook).
Geoff advises that the precious gliders were always hangared,
whilst poor old -AAE was left out
in the open! Clearly it didn't do it any harm, judging by
the heading photo.
