This aircraft was re-registered VH-SBO in
1962 (and
renamed 'Goroka') as part
of the TAA 'Sunbird' services
which operated in Papua/New
Guinea. It was later
sold to Air Nuigini as P2-ANT but returned to Australia
in 1978, reverting to VH-SBO.
It is preserved in Tamworth, NSW.
VH-AEU was received by Qantas Empire
Airways on 16 July 1944,
then handed over to Guinea Airways, Parafield in January
1945 for their Adelaide-Darwin service, and taken
over by MMA in November 1945
for their main Perth-Darwin
service. It was finally handed over to TAA on 25 March
1947. Immediately below is a CofA image
(via Fred Niven) of -AEU in early Guinea
Airways livery.
The two photos at the bottom of this entry show it in MacRobertson
Miller Aviation titling (upper), via the Peter Gates
collection, and (lower) at Perth Air-
port in late 1945 shortly
